What’s New in Pathfinder 3.16?
The new Pathfinder version 3.16 (released in September 2026) introduces significant enhancements to the documentation of cable routes and conduits. Cable routes can now be documented in greater detail, cables can run across multiple connected route sections, and even complex conduit structures can be accurately represented. A new assistant also helps users find suitable routes for cables. Version 3.16 builds on the April release, which significantly expanded Pathfinder’s capabilities for documenting outdoor infrastructure.
In addition, this release further improves the visualization of network paths and introduces several performance and usability enhancements.
Pathfinder 3.16: Focus on Cable Routes and Conduits
With Pathfinder 3.16, cables can run across multiple connected route sections. This makes it possible to document longer and more complex cable paths as continuous routes.
Pathfinder 3.16 also provides more detailed documentation of the structures within cable routes. Users can now document conduit structures within cable routes, accurately representing complex layouts and assigning cables to their respective conduits.
This makes it possible to document pipe-in-pipe structures in campus, industrial site, or WAN infrastructures.
To simplify the creation of recurring structures, the catalog now includes templates for cable routes and conduits. Existing conduit structures can also be copied and inserted into other cable routes. When cable assignments change, cables can easily be moved between individual conduits using drag and drop.
Existing route sections and their conduit structures can also be split at any point by adding a new outdoor object. Naming rules for route sections and conduits are also available to ensure consistent documentation.
Trace Network Paths More Completely
Pathfinder 3.16 also introduces several improvements to network path tracing. If a network path ends at a passive device, it is now extended to the port on the opposite side. Port tags are also inherited by the corresponding opposite port.
In addition, cable information from installation cables is now displayed directly in the properties of the respective network path. This makes important information about the documented connection path more readily accessible.
Improved Performance and Usability
Alongside the major new features, Pathfinder 3.16 also introduces performance and usability improvements. Rack view performance has been enhanced, particularly for racks containing a large number of modules. Reports also benefit from faster loading times. In addition, several smaller improvements make everyday work with Pathfinder easier.
